Peter Mwale, currently working with the Malawi Prisons Service at National Prison Headquarters as the National HIV and AIDS and Nutrition Programmes Coordinator, oversees key operational issues related to HIV and AIDS, tuberculosis, nutrition, and other health-related programmes within Malawi prisons. With over 15 years of experience as National coordinator, Peter has strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills, and is committed to inclusive decision-making while ensuring that every voice is valued. Peter holds a Master of Science in Health Care Management from UNICAF University, a Bachelor of Social Science in Public Health and an Advanced Diploma in HIV and AIDS Management. He has completed several short courses in project management, behaviour change communication, waste management, and mental health counselling, among others. He is a committee member of SANOP Malawi and has served on several other committees in different capacities including as a secretary of the Prisons Social Welfare Fund, where among other duties he helped to ensure that prison staff concerns were heard and addressed appropriately. In addition, Peter has served as Welfare Officer for prisoners in two prisons, focusing on general health and welfare of inmates, during which prisoner morbidity and mortality rates were reduced. Peter is passionate about supporting vulnerable groups of people and committed to deliver quality work within agreed deadlines.
