Lena Kresojevic
Country Coordinator
Lena Kresojevic is the Country Coordinator for Ubumi Prisons Initiative and a development professional with a Master’s degree in International Development and Culture. Since 2013, she has worked closely with the Zambia Correctional Service to strengthen prison health systems and promote the wellbeing and rights of incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals through a human rights-based approach. Her work has focused on correctional health, mental health, safeguarding, reintegration, advocacy, capacity building, and research aimed at improving health services and informing evidence-based programming within correctional settings. She has supported the development and implementation of programmes that strengthen health systems, build the capacity of staff and incarcerated people, and promote sustainable reintegration and protection initiatives. Lena also plays active leadership and governance roles within the sector. She currently serves as Support to the Secretary of the Prisons Health Advisory Committee and Secretary of the Reintegration Alliance for Formerly Incarcerated and Incarcerated Persons. She previously served as Treasurer of the Southern Africa Network of Prisons National Chapter in Zambia. She is passionate about regional collaboration, partnership building, and advancing dignified, rights-based approaches to correctional health and rehabilitation across Southern Africa.
