Jeremiah Banda
Vice Treasurer
Jeremiah Banda is a community development leader with extensive experience in advancing the rights and reintegration of vulnerable populations, particularly formerly incarcerated individuals. He has worked with a range of organisations focused on community empowerment, rehabilitation, and support within correctional facilities. He currently serves as Chairman of New Life Multi-Purpose Cooperative in Chipata District, where he provides strategic governance and oversight to programmes that facilitate the successful reintegration of ex-inmates. Under his leadership, the cooperative promotes skills development, economic empowerment, and community-based support systems, including family counselling initiatives delivered through trained volunteers. Jeremiah is committed to a rehabilitative approach to justice, grounded in the belief that correctional systems should transform lives rather than punish. His work also extends to supporting people living with HIV through counselling and inclusive community engagement. He champions values of inclusion, dignity, and equity, advocating for the meaningful participation of persons with disabilities and juveniles in empowerment programmes both within correctional facilities and in the wider community.
