Gerald Nkhoma

Gerald Nkhoma is a programme and social development professional with extensive experience in counselling, child and family support, prison ministry, rehabilitation, reintegration, and livelihoods programming. Gerald joined Prison Fellowship Malawi in 2017 as a Counselling Coordinator under the EU-funded STEP Project, supporting interventions aimed at the rehabilitation and restoration of individuals affected by imprisonment. He later served as a Social Worker under the Child’s Journey Programme, working closely with children whose parents were incarcerated and supporting their wellbeing, protection, education, and family relationships. He currently serves as the Promise Path 2.0 and Livelihood Coordinator at Prison Fellowship Malawi. In this role, he coordinates programmes supporting children and families affected by imprisonment, while also contributing to livelihood initiatives that promote household resilience, food security, and sustainable income generation. Gerald has experience in programme coordination, psychosocial counselling, social work, beneficiary support, community engagement, stakeholder coordination, and the implementation of community-based programmes. His academic and professional training includes Philosophy and Social Science, Theology, Psychosocial Counselling, and Nursing and Midwifery. His multidisciplinary background enables him to approach rehabilitation and community development from a holistic perspective. As Secretary of the SANOP Board, Gerald supports the governance, coordination, documentation, and communication of the network. He is committed to strengthening collaboration among organizations working toward rehabilitation, restorative justice, effective reintegration, and the transformation of communities affected by imprisonment.
