Simbarashe Chaunoita was born on 5 April 1973 and completed his education up to Advanced Level. He went on to build a career in the retail industry, where he worked for five years, gaining valuable experience in customer service and business operations. In April 2009, his life took an unexpected turn, leading to a period of incarceration that lasted ten and a half years. Rather than allowing this experience to define him negatively, Simbarashe used the time for personal growth and transformation. During his incarceration, he encountered representatives from Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO), who introduced him to Peer Education programmes. He embraced this opportunity wholeheartedly, training as a peer educator and serving in this capacity for several years prior to his release — supporting and guiding fellow inmates through education and mentorship. Committed to lifelong learning, Simbarashe holds numerous certificates as well as a Diploma in Biblical Studies and Christian Leadership. He also possesses a clean Class 2 driver's licence. Simbarashe is currently based in Harare, where he continues to build on the values of discipline, service, and personal development that have shaped his journey.
